Sports Massage for Racehorses

Sports Massage for Racehorses is another high quality career course offered by Equi-Ed aimed at the Further Education student working in the racing industry.

The study incorporates a variety of massage styles but with a main focus on Sports Massage in preparing the racehorse for optimum athletic performance and recovery.

The course is also underpinned by anatomy & physiology.  Aspiring Therapists for the Racing Industry, Trainers, Head/Travelling staff, Work Riders and Jockey's might be very well suited to this training to help performance and welfare in their sport.

Training Programme

The course is delivered over one Module of 5 days ‘Attended Learning’ where we focus on theory and practical massage followed by a period of ‘Distance Learning’ in which you will complete assignments and field based case studies with racehorses. This leads to a final theory and practical assessment.  The earliest completion period realistically is 6 months but this really depends on your lifestyle and the time you can allocate to studying – you may be able to complete earlier than 6 months.  We are very flexible to suit your needs!

Graduates may progress onto level 5 study after a period of working in the industry as a Therapist if it is their intention to become a fully immersed Therapist incorporating  Massage and Rehabilitation with the option to attend the full range of CPD (continuing professional development) one day courses.

You are however still equipped to massage horses after taking this Sports Massage for Racehorses course.

This course is a UK Level 4 nationally accredited training course, equivalent to a Level 5/6 course in Ireland.
